The white grape variety is an interspecific new breeding between Villard Blanc x Gewürztraminer. It contains genes from Vitis berlandieri, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed by the breeder Nicolae I. Guzun in Moldova. It is grown on 313 hectares in Moldova and 255 hectares in Russia. In 2016, a total of 568 hectares of vines were reported with an increasing trend (Kym Anderson statistics).
