Independent municipal area in the Département Vaucluse in the southern French appellation Côtes du Rhône-Villages (see AOC regulations there). Since 1966 the municipality has been allowed to use the name on the label. In the 12th century, the Order of the Temple established a base here and promoted viticulture. The vineyards cover around 100 hectares of vines on red, gravelly clay. They border on Rasteau and Séguret. The vast majority of the vineyards produce red wines, and to a lesser extent rosé and white wines. Well-known producers are Florimond Lambert and CV de Roaix-Séguret.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
