Rocca di Frassinello

Producer description of "Rocca di Frassinello"
The winery is located in the municipality of Gavorrano in the Maremma region (province of Grosseto) in southern Tuscany. It was founded as a joint project by the owner of "Domaines Barons de Rothschild" (e.g. Château Lafite-Rothschild), Baron Eric de Rothschild (*1940), whose wife comes from this area, and Dr. Paolo Panerai, the owner of "Domini Castellare di Castellina" (several wineries). The first vines were planted in 2000. The vineyards now cover 80 hectares and include Sangioveto, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varieties. The oenological advisor is the legendary Christian Le Sommer from Château Lafite-Rothschild. Following the French example, the Grand Vin "Rocca di Frassinello", as well as the second wine "Le Sughere di Frasinello" and the third wine "Poggio alla Guardia" are produced.
