The Hungarian wine author and wine critic
Gábor Rohály (* 1935) graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the Semmelweis Clinic in Budapest and initially ordained as a dental specialist. He was also a hobby winemaker, but from 1986 his interest in wine turned towards professionalism. He founded the order "Seven Wine Judges" and let himself be sommelier
form. Finally he graduated from the Wine Academy Austria

in Wines & Spirits and also obtained the title of a wine academy here. Rohály has been teaching wine science as a WSET-accredited teacher since 2006. Together with his wife, he has been the editor of the annual Hungarian “Borkalauz” since 1985 (in German wine guide
). Together with other authors, he has written three wine books and publishes regularly as a freelance columnist and journalist. At the Oxford Wine Companion (ed. Jancis Robinson
) he provides contributions for the area of Hungary.
