Rohály Gábor

The Hungarian wine author and wine critic Gábor Rohály (*1935) graduated from the Dental Faculty of the Semmelweis Clinic in Budapest and initially ordained as a dental specialist. Besides he was a hobby winemaker, but from 1986 his interest in wine turned towards professionalism. He founded the order "Seven Wine Judges" and trained as a sommelier. Finally, he completed the highest WSET Level 4 Diploma Certificate in Wines & Spirits at the Austrian Wine Academy in Rust, Burgenland, where he also obtained the title of a wine academician. Since 2006 Rohály has been teaching oenology as a WSET accredited teacher. Together with his wife he has been the editor of the annual Hungarian "Borkalauz" (in German wine guide) since 1985. He has written three wine books together with other authors and publishes regularly as a freelance columnist and journalist. For the Oxford-Wine-Companion (ed. Jancis Robinson), he contributes to the Hungarian section.
