Rommer Michael

The winery is located in the municipality Gols in the Burgenland wine region Lake Neusiedl (Austria). It was built by the Schmelzer family. In 1994, Lorenz Schmelzer III. the business to his niece Elisabeth Rommer (born Nittnaus), which she runs as cellar master together with her husband Michael (responsible for the vineyards). In 1995, some important and valuable vineyard facilities and arable land were overwritten as inheritance by the parents' house in Nittnaus. The vineyards cover almost nine hectares of vineyards in the vineyards Altenberg Tree garden noble grounds Goldberg, Heideboden, outside fields, high fields, long set, narrow grounds, Ungerberg, Meadow fields and gusset fields. They are planted 80% with the red varieties Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Blauburgunder, Blaufränkisch , Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% with the white varieties Rheinriesling, Chardonnay, Welschriesling, Muskat-Ottonell, Neuburger and Pinot Blanc. The cellar under the Streckhof was expanded in 1960; here are all the large wooden barrels and the barriques. The premium wines include the cuvées Lanz Rot (St. Laurent, Zweigelt, CS), Cuvée EM ( Blaufränkisch , Merlot, CS) and Lanz Weiß (Chardonnay, Neuburger), as well as St. Laurent PR and Zweigelt PR a bottle-fermented sparkling wine produced from Riesling. Around 30,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
