root mold

This vine disease (also collar rot, Wurzelhalsfäule or lat. Dematophora necatrix) is caused by a species of the Pythium fungus. It is favored by waterlogging, especially young vines. The affected root sites are of the white, cobweb-like mushroom overdrawn. In many sources, however, this disease is under the collective term root rot described. See also below Vine enemies,
