Rossese

Italian name or part of names or synonyms for white and red grape varieties, some of which are not related at all. As early as the 15th century, excellent wines were produced from a variety of Rossese Bianco or Roxise, like the famous naturalist Andrea in 1596 Bacci (1524-1600) reported. He even attributed “magical powers” to the Ligurian wines. The name is probably derived from the intense berry colors. There are at least seven varieties in Liguria and Piedmont :
