The white grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Razzese, Rosseis, Rossese, Rossese d'Albenga, Roxeie and Uva Rossese. It should not be confused with Grillo or Pigato (both with synonym Rossese Bianco) or any of the four different white Rossese varieties, despite seemingly suggestive synonyms. It is also not a colour mutation of the red variety Rossese di Dolceacqua (common synonym in Liguria for the French variety Tibouren). The vine produces fresh white wines with a low alcohol content. It is mainly grown in the two municipalities of Roddino and Sinio in the province of Cuneo in Piedmont in the Langhe hills and used as a blending grape. In 2016, five hectares of vines were reported under the name Rossese Bianco, with a downward trend (Kym Anderson statistics).

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
