Rossese Bianco di Monforte

The white grape variety (also Rossese Bianco) originates from Italy. It should not be confused with Grillo (Rossese Bianco) or any of the other four different white Rossese varieties, despite the fact that synonyms seem to indicate this. It is also not a colour mutation of the red Rossese di Dolceacqua variety (in Liguria a common synonym for the French Tibouren variety). The variety is grown exclusively in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba in the province of Cuneo in Piedmont. The variety, threatened with extinction, was reactivated in 1980 by the winemaker Giovanni Manzoni. However, no stock was recorded in 2016 (statistics Kym Anderson).
