The estate is located in the municipality of Wiesenbronn (Steigerwald area) at the foot of the Schwanberg in the German wine-growing region Franconia
, A new vinotheque was completed in 2007. The business is run by Gerhard Roth, the fifth generation of the family. The vineyards cover 16 hectares of vineyards in the Altenberg (Abtswind), Geißberg, Heller Berg and Wachhügel (Wiesenbronn) vineyards. Half of them are planted with the white varieties Riesling, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc, Bacchus, Kerner, Traminer and Scheurebe, and the other half with the red varieties Pinot Noir, Blaufränkisch
, Portuguese, Black Riesling, Dominatrix and Regent. Since 1974 Organic viticulture
in compliance with the guidelines of the organic association Naturland
operated. The winery is one of the pioneers.
In the vineyards there is natural greening
with additional targeted sowing from a mixture of legumes
, Grasses and herbs. To protect the vines from real and false mildew
the environmentally friendly technique of removing unnecessary leaves and shoots is applied. All of the wines are bottled at the estate. The red wines are principally subject to classic mash fermentation and are fermented thoroughly. They mature in large oak barrels and stainless steel, and occasionally also in barriques. The best qualities are bottled under the name "Heller Berg". The white wines are made from the grapes' own yeasts spontaneous
fermented and matured in stainless steel. Up to late harvest quality, they are mostly bottled dry. Pearl wines, bottle-fermented sparkling wines and fine spirits (yeast, pomace, wine, fruit) are also produced. The winery is a member of VDP
(Association of German quality wine estates).
