The white grape variety (also Roussette Basse de Seyssel) originates from France. The assumption that it is a somatic mutation of the Molette variety was refuted by the biologist José Vouillamoz by DNA analyses. It should also not be confused with the Altesse or Melon de Bourgogne varieties (both with the synonym Roussette). The variety used to be cultivated in the Frangy and Seyssel areas of Savoy, but is no longer of any importance today. In 2016, no stock was recorded (statistics Kym Anderson).
