Ruby (grape variety)

There are at least three grape varieties with this name. In 2010 were in Kazakhstan nine hectares of vineyards for a variety called Ruby (Kym Anderson ). However, it is not clear which one is meant:

1) The red grape variety is an interspecific new breed between Elvira x Brighton, They are genes from Vitis labrusca. Vitis riparia and Vitis vinifera contain. The crossing of the hybrid took place in 1890 in the United States by the botanist Thomas Volney Munson (1843-1913).

2) The red berry grape variety is an interspecific new breed between Keuka x Ontario, They are genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera contain. The hybrid was crossed in 1923 by Richard Wellington at the Cornell University in Geneva (New York). It was a crossing partner of the new breed Caberinta,

3) The red grape variety comes from the USA. It is a vine of the American species Vitis labrusca, The variety was selected by a breeder named Haskell.
