Rudava

The red grape variety (breeding no. CATAP 6/28) is a new breeding between Castets x I-35-9 6/28 = (pollen mixture of Teinturier du Cher, Aleatico and Pukhliakovskyi). The father variety originated in Russia. The cross was made in 1967 in Slovakia (then Czechoslovakia) by Dorota Pospíšilová. By the way, the new variety Torysa was also created with the same parents. It is named after a river in the east of Slovakia. Plant variety protection was granted in 2011. The high-yielding vine is resistant to frost and botrytis, but somewhat susceptible to powdery mildew. It yields dark-colored, full-bodied red wines with a Cabernet Sauvignon-like aroma and aging potential with proper aging. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
