Ruen

The red grape variety (also Rouene) is a new variety between Chiroka Melnichka(Shiroka Melnishka) x Cabernet Sauvignon, which was confirmed by DNA analyses carried out in 2004. The crossing was made in 1951 by the breeder K. Stoev in Bulgaria. The late maturing vine is relatively resistant to botrytis. It produces colourful, full-bodied, velvety red wines with aromas of red fruits and storage potential. The variety is cultivated in the southwest of the country. In 2008, eight hectares of vineyards were registered here (ex Wine Grapes); however, Kym Anderson's statistics did not show any stock in 2010.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
