The vineyard is located in the commune of Labarde in the Margaux area of the Médoc (Haut-Médoc, Bordeaux). It was last classified as a "Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel" in the Bordeaux classification according to the old system in 2003. The origins of the ancient estate date back to 1428, when a Guilhem de Siran is named as the owner.
