The winery is located in the municipality of Leutschach an der Weinstraße in the Austrian wine-growing region of Südsteiermark. Viticulture in this traditional family dates back to 1650. The great upswing began in 1992, after his training at the viticultural college Silberberg, when Erwin Sabathi Jr. joined the family business as the tenth generation of the family. Together with his two younger brothers Gerd and Christoph, all the key positions in the business are covered by the family. The motto of the house is: The wines are the contemporary interpretation of tradition. In 2004, a newly built wine cellar was put into operation, for which the builder was awarded the "Viktor Geramb thank-you sign for good building in Styria".

Sabathi Erwin - Weingut Kellereigebäude

The vineyards cover 39 hectares of vines, 23 hectares of which are on the Pössnitzberg. They are planted exclusively with white wine varieties, namely Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Welschriesling, Gelber Muskateller, Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris). The winery has been a member of Steirische Terroir & Klassikweingüter (STK) since 2013. The wines are vinified in the STK lines. The STEIRISCHE KLASSIK line includes fresh, fruit-driven wines aged in stainless steel tanks. The DORFWEIN line comes from various vineyards within the municipality of Leutschach an der Weinstraße.

Pössnitzberg Weinberge

The ERSTE STK LAGE line includes wines from the Poharnig® ( monopoly site of Erwin Sabathi in Pössnitz, entirely planted with Sauvignon Blanc ), Krepskogel (with the varieties Gelber Muskateller, Subriede vom Pössnitzberg) and Jägerberg (with the varieties Weiß- und Grauburgunder in Kranach-Gamlitz, Subriede vom Kranachberg). Dorfweine and Erste STK single vineyards are exclusively fermented spontaneously and then mature in large wooden barrels.

The wines of the Topline GROSSE STK LAGE come from the 23 hectares of extremely steep land on the Pössnitzberg. Here, cultivation is partly only possible by hand. Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay are cultivated here. It is a very old vineyard with great importance for the farm. The first core was already acquired in the 1950s. A speciality are the wines made from the best grapes of the oldest vineyards under the name "Sauvignon Blanc ALTE REBEN" as well as "Chardonnay ALTE REBEN". All these wines are matured in oak barrels and are released after 18 months of maturation. The winery is a member of the Wein Steiermark association.
