Saint-Vincent Tournante

Wine festival named after the patron saint of Burgundian winegrowers, Vincent de Valencia. It is organised annually in January, on the weekend after his feast day, 22 January, in various Burgundian municipalities. The origins of this traditional event date back to the Middle Ages, when professional brotherhoods were formed in many wine towns in Burgundy. After a decline, a revival was launched in 1938 by the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin and the festival was held for the first time in Vougeot. After the Second World War, it regained great importance. In addition to the traditional tastings, there is a procession, a church service and the induction of new members into the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin. See also under Wine Brotherhood.
