Sainte-Cécile-les-Vignes

Independent municipal area in the southern French appellation Côtes du Rhône-Villages (see the AOC regulations there). A bronze statue of the French wine pioneer and founder of the INAO Baron Pierre Le Roy Boiseaumarié (1890-1967) with an inscription of thanks from the local winegrowers is located on a square in the municipality of Sainte-Cécile. Since 2017, the municipality has been allowed to add the name to the label, which applies to red, rosé and white wines. The vineyards cover 240 hectares of vineyards with muddy clay soils with pebbles in the northern part and predominantly calcareous pebbles on sandy clay soils in the southern part. They cover the communes of Suze-la-Rousse and Tulette in the department of Drôme, and Sainte-Cecile-les-Vignes, Sérignan-du-Comtat and Travaillan in the department of Vaucluse. Well-known producers are the two cooperative wineries Cécilia and Colombe des Vignes.
