Salmanazar

Name (also Salmanassar, Salmanasar, Shalmaneser) of an oversized bottle for a champagne with a volume of nine litres or the content of 12 normal bottles. However, the name is not origin-protected, but can be used freely for sparkling wines or wines. It is derived from the Assyrian king Salmanassar V (reigned 727-722 BC), who conquered Israel (northern kingdom of the Jews) in 722 BC and made it a province of Assyria.
