Samarrinho

The white grape variety originates from Portugal. Synonyms are Budelho and Pedro Ximenez Canario. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2013, it is a presumably natural cross between Savagnin (Traminer) x unknown partner. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). Nothing is known about a possible genetic relationship to the red variety Samarrinho Tinto. It is grown in small quantities in the Centro and Norte regions. In 2016, a scanty hectare of vineyard was designated (Kym Anderson).
