single vineyard in the municipality of Kiedrich in the German wine-growing region of Rheingau. Although the municipality also extends into Eltville, only the name "Kiedricher Sandgrub" is permitted. Sand was once quarried here for building purposes, from which the name derives. The south to southwest-facing vineyards with slopes ranging from 10 to 40% cover 124 hectares of vineyards, of which only 44 hectares are planted. The soils, which are quite inhomogeneous due to their size, consist largely of deep loess and loess loam with some gravel and tertiary limestone. The Riesling variety is cultivated here. The Baron Knyphausen, Freiherr Langwerth von Simmern, H. J. Ernst, Jung Jakob, Lamm-Jung, Nikolai Heinz, Oetinger, Prinz von Hessen and Winzer von Erbach wineries, for example, have shares in the site.

In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
