DOC area for a very wide range of red, rosé and white wines in the Italian region Campania
, It is named after the historical and geographical region in the southern Apennines, which was inhabited in ancient times by the Samnites. There is also a municipality called San Giorgio del Sannio. As of the 2012 vintage, the wines were included in the four DOC areas Guardia Sanframondi
(Guardiolo), Sant'Agata de 'Goti
. The large area encompasses the entire province of Benevento with around 80 municipalities with the subregions Guardia Sanframondi (Guardiolo), Sant'Agata dei Goti, Solopaca, Solopaca Classico and Taburno. Their names are given on the bottle label after the DOC designation Sannio. For each subzone there are differences in the product range.
