Winegrowers' cooperative of the Greek archipelago of Santorini with its headquarters in the municipality of Pyrgos on the main island of Thira. It was founded in 1947 and has 2,500 members who supply grapes, fava beans for the traditional dish fava, as well as tomatoes and capers. About a thousand of them are winegrowers. Some members vinify their grapes in the cooperative's own vineyards and market the wines with their own labels. In 1992, a state-of-the-art winery was put into operation. The building is laid out on five levels. This allows grapes, musts and wines to be moved during the winemaking process without the need for pumps or other mechanical loads. Special research projects are carried out to improve cultivation methods, vinification processes and product quality. The autochthonous grape varieties are cultivated in our own nursery. The white wine varieties Assyrtiko, Aïdani Aspro and Athiri Aspro, as well as the red wine varieties Mandilaria, Mavrotragano and Voudomato are cultivated. A wide range of different wines is produced from these, including the local speciality Vinsanto.
