Schaefer Karl

The estate is located in the municipality of Bad Dürkheim (Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region palatinate, The doctor Dr. Christian Schaefer founded, who had acquired the classicist manor house, now protected as a cultural monument, in 1843. The company got its current name from his son Karl Schaefer, a pioneer in bottling. Today, the estate is in the sixth family generation of Dr. Job led by Nell and Marianne von Nell, who are supported by a young team. The vineyards cover around 17 hectares of vineyards in individual locations fox coat. Michel Berg and Spielberg (Bad Dürkheim), fox coat and junk (Wachenheim) Pechstein (Forest), as well Herrenberg and Weilberg (Ungstein).

The old terrace facilities with many dry stone walls have been preserved in their original form and offer a retreat for rare animals and plants. They are planted with the white varieties Riesling (85%), Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Scheurebe, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Rieslaner and Muscatel, as well as with the red varieties Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Dornfelder and Merlot. Operation is according to the guidelines Organic viticulture certified. Soil conservation is largely done by hand with little use of machinery. The wines are carefully developed according to the winery's definition of "slim, puristic, mineral and dry by tradition". Since the 2012 vintage, the wines have been in four stages VDP classification produced. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and brandies (pomace) are also produced. The winery is VDP Member (Association of German quality wine estates).
