Schäwer

single vineyard in the municipality of Burrweiler (Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of the Palatinate. Above the village, the Anna Chapel is visible from afar in the forest. Below the forest, the vineyard begins and extends to the edge of the village. The southeast-facing vineyards with slopes ranging from 10 to 30% cover 24 hectares of vineyards. The soils consist of weathered mottled sandstone, some of which is slate, with clay and slope debris on top. The microclimate is favoured by the Haardt Mountains directly above. These protect against cool westerly winds and act as water reservoirs in hot, dry summers. Riesling and Pinot Noir, among others, are cultivated here. Shares in the site are held, for example, by the St. Annaberg, Meßmer Herbert and acid Heiner wineries.
