The winery is located in the municipality of Mörbisch in the Burgenland DAC area of Leithaberg (Austria). The estate is managed by Franz Schindler. The vineyards comprise 15 hectares of vines. They are planted to 60% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and 40% with the white wine varieties Welschriesling, Muskat Ottonel, Sauvignon Blanc, Bouvier and Chardonnay. Most of the white wines are fermented and matured in stainless steel tanks to preserve their fruitiness. The red wines (and suitable white wines) are aged in French and American barriques. The two flagships of the house are the "Cuvée d'Or" (Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot), which is aged up to 24 months in new barriques, and the white "Cuvée d'Argent" (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc), which is also aged in barriques. The "Cuvée Grande d'Or" is only produced in the best vintages, the first time was in 1999, and matures twice for 12 months in new barriques. About 5% of the production are sweet wines (Auslese, Beerenauslese, Ausbruch, Trockenbeerenauslese). About 70,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
