Schleswig-Holstein

The new winegrowing area in Germany was admitted in 2008. Strictly speaking, it is not a growing area, as no quality wine may be produced here. A total of ten hectares of vineyards may be used for viticulture, which was made possible by waiving the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Here a "Schleswig-Holstein Landwein" may be produced. The first use was from the Rheingau winery Ress Balthazar on the Schleswig-Holstein belonging to the North Sea island of Sylt in the municipality Keitum vineyards created. It is the northernmost vineyard Germany.
