Schmachtenberger Berthold

The estate is located in the commune of Randersacker (Maindreieck area) in the German wine-growing region Franconia, The family has been cultivating wine in the triangle of the Main for 700 years. The Randersackerer branch moved to this community in the mid-16th century. Since 2015, the 12th generation has been run by Markus Schmachtenberger. The vineyards cover almost nine hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Marsberg and Sonnenstuhl (Randersacker). They are planted with the white varieties Silvaner, Riesling, Rivaner, Scheurebe, Sauvignon blanc, Bacchus, Kerner, Pinot Blanc, Traminer and Rieslaner, as well as with the red varieties Pinot Noir, Dominatrix and Portuguese.

On 1.5 hectares Organic viticulture according to the principles of a sustainable Viticulture practiced. The waiver herbicides but applies to the entire vine stock. Quality criteria are careful pruning in winter, shoot correction in spring, thin out and selective hand picking ripe and healthy grapes. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are aged in steel tanks or in large wooden barrels. The product range is divided into literary wines (mostly from a large area of eternal life), the new franc, the classic franc and the large franc with the top wines. Around 60,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The winery is a member of the Fränkisches Gewächs and Generation Riesling associations and the Franconian vintner group ETHOS.
