Schneider-Orelli Otto

The Swiss biologist and oenologist dr. Otto Schneider-Orelli (1880-1965) studied natural sciences at the University of Bern from 1900 to 1905. Later he was an assistant at the Swiss Experimental Institute of Fruit and Viticulture in Wädenswil where he worked plant physiological, mycological (fungi) and entomological (insects) problems. In 1917 he was appointed lecturer in entomology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and appointed professor in 1929. A total of 110 essays deal with the phylloxera (especially with the race question) and the different kinds of the Grape berry moth (for example, "Affiliated and crossed grape moth" from 1915). Furthermore, he was successful in the research and development of reblausresistenten documents active.
