Schumacher-Knepper

The estate is located in the municipality of Schengen-Wintrange in the southern Moselle valley of Luxembourg, The viticulture activities of the traditional family business go back to the year 1714. Since 2003, he has been run by the seventh generation of Frank Schumacher (Geisenheim graduate in psychology) and his sister Martine (economist). The vineyards cover eight hectares of vineyards on deep Keuper soils almost exclusively in the Grand Cru Wintranger Felsberg. They are planted with the white varieties Riesling (29%), Rivaner (29%), Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Elbling, Auxerrois and Gewürztraminer, and the red varieties Pinot Noir and St. Laurent. In 1965, the domain of the notary Constant Knepper was taken from Remich. The wines are still today with original bottle design marketed. There is a natural, environmentally friendly management. Great emphasis is placed on handpicked, healthy grapes. The wines are matured in the traditional manner with the best possible technology variety and location typical in stainless steel. Specialties include late harvest Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Pinot Gris and Riesling.
