Schuyler

The red grape variety (also New York 13920) is an interspecific new breed between Zinfandel x Ontario, It was named after Philip Schuyler (1733-1804), the American general in the War of Independence and representative of New York in the US Senate. They are genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera contain. The crossing of the hybrid was done in 1932 by the breeders GD Oberle and Richard Wellington at the Institute of Vine Breeding Cornell University in Geneva (New York State). The vine was a cross partner for the varieties Cayuga White. Horizon and Orlando Seedless, It is used in the USA for the production of table grapes. grape juice and used simple red wines.
