Producer description of "Weingut Schwahn - Fehlinger"

The winery is located in the municipality of Westhofen (Wonnegau area) in the German wine-growing region of . Viticulture is already in the 6th generation of the family. Today, the winery is run by Klaus and Geisenheim graduate Wolfgang H. Fehlinger. The vineyards cover 15 hectares in the single vineyards , , , Rotenstein and . They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Weißer Burgunder, Grauer Burgunder, Sylvaner, Muskat-Ottonel, Gewürztraminer, Huxelrebe, Sauvignon Blanc, Müller-Thurgau and Kerner, as well as with the red wine varieties Spätburgunder, Dornfelder, Dunkelfelder, Portugieser and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The cultivation is close to nature and Soil improvement is carried out by means of and . and are not used. The wines are vinified in an ancient vaulted cellar with a peak height of four metres. The wines are mainly matured in stainless steel. The red wines mature in barrique or in small wooden barrels. Premium wines are Alter Wingert Riesling dry and Sauvignon Blanc dry. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, brandy and grape brandy are also produced. Around 30,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The winery is a member of Generation Riesling.
