The winery is located in the municipality of Korb (Remstal-Stuttgart area) in the German wine-growing region of Württemberg. It was built up by Albrecht and Andrea Schwegler from the early 1990s. After practical stays at wineries in Germany, Switzerland, California and New Zealand, the next generation, Aaron Schwegler and his wife Julia, joined the business in 2009. Since then, white wines have also been produced. The vineyards cover 12 hectares of vineyards in individual locations in the communities of Endersbach, Großheppach, Korb and Schnait. They are planted with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Lemberger (Blaufränkisch), Trollinger (Schiava Grossa), Syrah, Regent and Cabertin, as well as the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Gris. The vineyards are cultivated close to nature, with no artificial fertilisers or conventional pesticides. The vineyards have been cultivated according to the guidelines of organic (ecological) viticulture since the end of the 1980s, although certification was only applied for with the 2019 vintage.

Schwegler Albrecvht - Einzellage Wanne Gemeinde Großheppach

There are three elevations known as "heads", these are Korber Kopf, Kleinheppacher Kopf and Hörnleskopf. The picture shows the Wanne site; it was taken from the Korber Kopf with a view of the Hörnleskopf (centre) and Kleinheppacher Kopf.

Only physiologically ripe and healthy grapes are processed by selective hand-picking, grape by grape. Traditional maceration is followed by gentle pressing. Depending on the vintage, grape variety and single vineyard, suitable barrels are selected from a variety of different types of wood and toasting levels. The red wines mature for two years in French barriques. There is no filtration. Only after the varietal maturation is the assemblage of the cuvées with the names BERYLL, SAPHIR and the GRANAT, which is only produced in special years and aged exclusively in new barriques, carried out. The "d'r Oifache", which corresponds to its name and has a high Trollinger content, is bottled in litre bottles. The white wines also mature for 12 months in barrique and tonneau barrels.
