The "Wein- und Sektgut Schweigler" is located in the municipality of Binzen (Markgräflerland area) in the German wine-growing region of Baden. The farm is run by Dieter Schweigler, and since the 2002 vintage, son Stefan has been responsible for the vinification. The vineyards cover six hectares of vines in the single vineyard Sonnhohle (Binzen). They are planted with the white wine varieties Gutedel (40%), Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Red Gutedel and Nobling, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir and Regent. Quality criteria are appropriate pruning, foliage care and thinning, as well as ripe grapes. Great importance is attached to typicality in terms of varieties and region. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are matured in the vaulted cellar dating back to 1874 in steel tanks, large wooden barrels or in barriques. A large proportion of the wines are bottle-fermented sparkling wines. Fine spirits (marc, yeast, wine, fruit) and liqueurs are also produced.
