Canton with the capital of the same name in Switzerland. It belongs to the large wine region of German-speaking Switzerland. The vineyards cover 32 hectares of vines. The two municipalities of Freienbach and Nuolen belong to the Lake Zurich AOC area. The largest Swiss island of Ufenau in Lake Zurich, which belongs to Freienbach, is owned by the Benedictine monastery of Einsiedeln, which cultivates vines here through its own "Brother Cellar Master". Between Wilen and Freienbach lies the famous Leutschen vineyard, which was first mentioned in documents as early as 1430. The white wine varieties Riesling x Sylvaner (Müller-Thurgau), Räuschling, Pinot Gris, Freisamer, Sauvignon Blanc and Solaris, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Regent, Garanoir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Dornfelder are grown here. From these, the popular brand wine "Leutschner" is pressed. Well-known producers are Clerc Bamert, Klosterkellerei Einsiedeln, Gebrüder Kümin and Sunnehof.
