The winery is located in the municipality of Nierstein (Nierstein area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. It was founded in 1783 and has been family-owned ever since. Heinrich Seebrich Senior converted the estate completely to viticulture in the 1950s. Since 1985, the estate has been run by Heinrich Seebrich Junior, who is assisted by his son Jochen. The vineyards cover 11 hectares in the Nierstein vineyards of Bildstock, Brückchen, Findling, Heiligenbaum, Hipping, Klostergarten, Ölberg, Paterberg and Rosenberg. They are planted with the varieties Riesling (40%), Dornfelder (11%), Müller-Thurgau (11%), Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Silvaner, Kerner, Gewürztraminer, Frühburgunder, Scheurebe and Merlot. For pest control in the vineyard, the confusion method is used against the dreaded grape berry moth. Recently, experiments have also been carried out with barrique barrels in the 100-year-old cellar. Around 85,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Bottle-fermented vintner's sparkling wines and wine yeast brandies are also produced.
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
