Seifert

The red grape variety is a new breed between Blauburger x Klosterneuburg 1189-9-77 ( Seyve-Villard 18-402 x Blaufränkisch ). The cross was made in 1970 by Dr. Gertrud Mayer on Klosterneuburg Wine Institute (Lower Austria). The former institute director Wenzel was named Seifert (1862-1942) honored. In the meantime, the variety has been withdrawn due to its susceptibility to rot.
