Seifert

The red grape variety is a new breed between Blauburger x Klosterneuburg 1189-9-77 ( Seyve-Villard 18-402 x Blaufränkisch ). The crossing took place in 1970 by Dr. med. Gertrud Mayer am Klosterneuburger Weinbauinstitut (Lower Austria). With the name became the former institute director Wenzel Seifert (1862-1942) honored. In the meantime, the variety has been withdrawn due to its rotting susceptibility.
