Selection

Designation for certain quality wines regulated by wine law in Austria. It may only be used for vintage wines with the best recognisable characteristics with regard to their varietal character and origin. The provision that information on the selection criteria must be included on the label was eliminated in 2018. However, this designation is not permitted for Prädikat wines. See other designations of the same or similar terms under Austria at the section "Other wine designations", as well as under special wines.
