Wine law term for a certain Residual sugar content in the wine that is used in the corresponding language for the EU countries (eg "semidulce" in Spain, "medium sweet" in England or "meio doce" in Portugal). Since Austria's accession to the EU in 1995, the German term "semisweet", which had been used until then, has no longer been permitted, instead (as has always been the case in Germany) lovely used.
