The white grape variety is a new breed between Sercial x Alvarinho, Synonyms are Cercealinho, Cercialinho and Sercealinho. The name was formed from the starting and ending syllables of the parents' names. Parenthood was shown through in 2010 DNA analysis and corrected the previous assumption of a cross between Vital x Alvarinho. The cross was made in the 1950s by the breeder Jose Leão Ferreira de Almeida in Portugal, The late-ripening vine is moderately resistant to Botrytis, It produces acidic, alcohol-rich white wines with aromas of green apples, pears and a light honey taste. The variety is in the central western area Bairrada grown, where in 2010 a crop of nine hectares was shown.
