The red grape variety originates from Albania. Synonyms are Black Serina, Serina Black and Serine e Zeze. The parentage is unknown. DNA analyses carried out in 2005 disproved the long-standing assumption that it was identical to Syrah. In addition, the varieties Serina e Zeze Prisha, Serina Landare, Serina e Drenoves and Shesh i Zi were identified as independent varieties. The early-maturing vine is cultivated in the Korça area in the southeast. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
