Servatius Servatius von Tongern was the son of Jewish parents in Armenia Born and died on May 13, 384 in Maastricht in the Netherlands martyrdom. Around 340 he became Bishop of Tongern and was mentioned as a participant of several councils, in which he appeared as the main opponent of the teaching of Arianism. Numerous healings and miracles are reported by him. When he preached, the Holy Spirit filled him and everyone understood him in their mother tongue. He prophesied the Vandal 406. Legends tell that he was killed with a clog. His tomb in Maastricht was one of the most important places of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages.

Servatius is one of the five Eisheiligen, his feast day is May 13th. Among other things, he is the patron saint of locksmiths and carpenters; as well as helpers against fear of death, frost damage, lame animals, rheumatism, mouse and rat pests.
