Servatius Servatius of Tongeren was the son of Jewish parents in Armenia born and died on May 13, 384 in Maastricht in the Netherlands the martyr's death. Around 340 he became Bishop of Tongeren and was mentioned as a participant in several councils, where he appeared as the main opponent of the doctrine of Arianism. Numerous healings and miracles are reported by him. As he preached, the Holy Spirit filled him and everyone understood him in their mother tongue. He predicted the vandal invasion 406. Legend has it that he was killed with a wooden shoe. His grave in Maastricht was one of the most important pilgrimage sites of the Middle Ages.
