Seyve-Villard 12-286

The red grape variety (also SV 12-286) is an interspecific new variety between Seibel 6468 x Seibel 6905 (Subereux). It contains genes from Vitis berlandieri, Vitis labrusca, Vitis lincecumii, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The crossing of the fungus-resistant hybrid was done by Bertille Seyve (1864-1939) at the Seyve-Villard vineyard, using creations by the breeder Albert Seibel (1844-1936). It was a crossing partner in the new varieties Anthoprim, Aromatica, Medina (1) and Merlau. An open-pollinated descendant of Seyve-Villard 12-286 is the variety Eger 1. No stock was reported in 2016 (statistics Kym Anderson).
