The white grape variety (also Pucalla) comes from Albania; the name means "White Shesh". It is named after the municipality of Shesh west of Tirana. The parentage is unknown. Whether a connection to the red variety Shesh i Zi is not known. The late-ripening vine is cultivated west of the capital in the center of the country, where together with the Shesh i Zi it makes up about one third of the Albanian population. In 2010, however, no stock was reported (Kym Anderson ).
