The red grape variety (also Chevka) comes from Bulgaria
, The late-ripening, high-yielding vine is prone to both mildews
but moderately resistant to Botrytis
, It produces alcoholic and low acid red wines and is also known as table grape
used. Vini Sliven, one of the largest Bulgarian winegrowing enterprises, was originally called Shevka, which points to the former great importance of the variety. It is grown in the central east of Bulgaria, where in 2008 a total of 156 hectares was recorded.
