sick

diseased, sick, ill (GB)

General and rather imprecise term for a wine in the context of a wine address that presents itself with an unclean, unpleasant overall image. Often this is also called "foreign taste" (smell, sound, aroma), whereby this is not to be understood as "unknown", but that the smell/taste "does not belong to the wine". Various bacteria, fungi or other microorganisms can be responsible for this. Thus, it can be a matter of various wine faults. See also under microbiological and healthy.
