Siegelsberg

single vineyard in the municipality of Erbach in the German wine-growing region of Rheingau. The name probably derives from a contract of sale concluded with a deed, i.e. with "letter and seal". The south-facing vineyards at 110 metres above sea level with a slope of 10 to 20% cover 15 hectares of vines. They are well protected from north and east winds and have excellent exposure (sunlight). The soils consist of clay layers with a deep loess loam layer and a high proportion of fine earth. There is a good water supply. The Riesling variety is cultivated here. The vineyards of Eser August, Hessische Staatsweingüter, Jung Jakob, Oetinger and Schloss Reinhartshausen, for example, have shares in the site.
