The winery is located in the town of Zwingenberg in the German wine-growing region of Hessische Bergstrasse. It was taken over in 1991 by Kurt Simon and Wilfried Bürkle, who had met while studying at the Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt in Weinsberg (Baden-Württemberg). After the death of Kurt Simon (2003) and Wilfried Bürkle (2013), it is run by Dagmar Simon and Johannes Bürkle. Jan Faber is responsible as cellar master. The vineyards cover 11 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Alte Burg and Steingeröll (Zwingenberg), Schöntal (Alsbach), and Höllberg (Auerbach). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (with about half of the area), Gewürztraminer, Muskateller, Silvaner, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Scheurebe, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, St. Laur ent and Lemberger (Blaufränkisch). Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and noble brandies are also produced. The winery is a member of the Pro Riesling and Generation Riesling winegrowers' associations.
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
