Skopelitiko

The red grape variety comes from . Synonyms are Scopelitico and Skopelitis. The late ripening vine is well resistant to . It produces dark-coloured, tannin-rich red wines with moderate acidity and rustic notes. The name refers to the Sporades island of Skópelos, from where the variety was brought to the island of (Kerkyra) by monks. Here it is cultivated in the centre and south.
