Colloquial term (also small barrel, small wooden barrel, small oak barrel, small oak barrel) without wine-legal significance for a barrique bar rel with a volume of 225 litres, although this can also include up to about 350 litres. The term is not unambiguous, however, because it does not necessarily have to be a barrique barrel. Larger traditional wooden barrels of various sizes are colloquially referred to as large wooden bar rels. See also complete lists under the keywords barrel, barrel and barrel types.
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
